Community Acupuncture FAQs

What is Community Style Acupuncture?

In this style of acupuncture, patients will lie on yoga mats propped on bolsters and blankets to ensure optimal comfort. There will be 5-10 other participants in the room while you receive your treatment. Voices are kept to a whisper to allow for all participants to relax in to a meditative state. In community style acupuncture, because we are able to treat so many people in a shorter period of time, we are able to charge lower fees. Not only does this allow for costs to remain lower, but the healing energy of the group dynamic is beneficial as well.

When can I arrive?

You may arrive anytime withing the two-hour time frame (4-6pm), allowing enough time for the intake and time to rest with the needles. Therefore, the last treatment will be at a half hour prior to closing time (5:30 pm). You may also schedule in advance by contacting me directly. Treatments are given on a first come, first serve basis so scheduling an appointment is highly recommended.

How long is the treatment?

You will fill out a brief intake in advance and have a short discussion about your condition before the treatment (about 10 minutes). You may then rest with the needles for 20-30 minutes. Therefore, it is recommended that you  allow 45 minutes-1 hour for the treatment.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. For community style acupuncture I generally use points at or below the elbow and at or below the knee. Wearing pants and shirts that can comfortably be rolled up to these areas are recommended.

How much does it cost?

Community style acupuncture treatments are $30/session.
